What Comes With Your Labrador Retriever Puppy?

At Rosie’s Labradors, we are committed to giving every Labrador Retriever puppy a healthy, well-cared-for start before joining their new family. Our puppies are raised with careful attention to their health, development, socialization, and daily routines to help make the transition from our home to yours as smooth as possible.

Each puppy goes home with limited American Kennel Club (AKC) registration. Once the litter registration process has been completed, your puppy’s AKC registration information will be provided directly to you.

Puppy Health & Veterinary Care

Before going to their new homes, our AKC Labrador Retriever puppies receive their first puppy vaccination at approximately 7 weeks of age. Puppies are also kept on an age-appropriate deworming and flea-prevention schedule. We do not remove dewclaws.

The dam and sire of our puppies have completed health clearances and genetic testing selected to help us make informed, responsible breeding decisions. Information regarding the parents’ health testing and clearances is available to prospective puppy families.

Your Puppy Take-Home Packet

We want our families to feel prepared when bringing home their new Labrador puppy. Your puppy packet includes helpful information about your puppy’s care, including:

  • Vaccination and deworming information

  • AKC registration information

  • Current feeding schedule and routine

  • Sleeping schedule and habits

  • Recommendations to help your puppy adjust to their new home

At Rosie’s Labradors, our goal is to raise healthy, well-socialized Labrador Retriever puppies with the temperament and foundation to become wonderful family companions. We take pride in preparing our puppies and their new families for a successful start together.

How do we choose our pairings?

We breed for the English-type Labrador Retriever instead of the American/Field style Labrador.
Our priority is breeding for a healthy dog, with an unforgettable temperament and good looks. We require all clearances from any stud dog we use with our girls, including OFA Hips, Elbow, Heart, EIC, HNPK, CERT eye clearances and more. We choose stud dogs that have multiple Show Championships. The reason for this is simple, a dog that can withstand the stressors of the show world with poise naturally have the intelligence, temperament, and conformation that every family is looking for.  Being a successful show dog takes a lot more than a pretty face and a shiny coat! 🐾 A great Labrador Retriever show dog also needs patience, confidence, and a genuine love of people. In the AKC show ring, dogs are expected to stand calmly while unfamiliar judges examine them from nose to tail. Judges may check their teeth, look inside their mouth, feel their body and structure, and handle their legs, feet, and coat. There’s also plenty of activity, noise, other dogs, and new people to take in—all while the dog is expected to remain comfortable and composed.

That’s one reason we value proven temperament in our Labrador Retriever breeding program. A dog that can confidently walk into a busy show environment, happily greet strangers, tolerate hands all over them, and still wag their tail says a lot about their personality.Of course, not every wonderful Labrador needs to be a show dog! But the qualities that help a Labrador succeed in the ring—confidence, patience, friendliness, and a steady temperament—are also qualities we love to see in a family companion.
After all, a beautiful Labrador may catch your eye, but a wonderful temperament is what makes you fall in love. ❤️
